Update: Microsoft's shareholder form it sends to the SEC shows that it sold 1.6 million Xbox consoles in the last quarter, compared to 2 million from the same period a year before. It also stated it sold 10.7 million Xbox consoles during the first nine months of its 2015 fiscal year, compared with 10.6 million consoles during the first nine months of its 2014 fiscal year.

Original story: Revenues from Microsoft's Xbox division were down 24% in its 2015 fiscal third quarter, compared to the same period a year ago. The company didn't disclose much else about its Xbox business as part of its financial results today.

Microsoft did not give any specifics on Xbox revenue numbers for the quarter, nor did it give an update on how many Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles it sold between January and March 2015. It did state that its numbers were impacted because of "lower console units against prior year post launch quarter and increased mix of lower price Xbox One SKUs". That means that the company's decision to set the Xbox One's price at $349 in mid-January affected revenues.

On the plus side, Microsoft said that "usage" of its Xbox Live service went up by 30% in the quarter, which it said was "driven by increased users and deeper user engagement." However, the company declined to give any specifics on how many people actually use Xbox Live.
