First announced in July 2014, Battleborn is the upcoming first-person shooter from developer Gearbox Software that also has MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) gameplay elements. Today, Gearbox and publisher 2K Games released a new trailer for Battleborn, along with new information on its features.
The game will feature online support for up to five gamers who can play it together in co-op mode, along with split-screen support for two players only. Here's a quick bullet list of Battleborn's features.
- Story Mode: Fight alone, or co-operatively with friends, to save the last star in the universe from a mysterious evil hell bent on its destruction
- 25 Characters: Take control of 25 vastly different heroes, each one with their own personality, equipped with unique weapons and powers
- Competitive Multiplayer: Experience team-based competitive multiplayer action with up to 10 players online in 5v5 matches across three distinctly different modes – Incursion, Devastation, and Meltdown
- Progression System: Earn experience points in every game mode to level-up individual heroes' Character Rank, as well as your own player profile Command Rank
The game will be released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC platforms "this winter", but that's a rather vague timeline that could mean it will be coming out sometime in late 2015 or even in early 2016. Battleborn will be playable to attendees at E3 2015 for the first time.
