While Sony's PlayStation 4 console was the number one selling game console in the US in August 2015, Microsoft says that sales of its own Xbox One were still up 26% compared to August 2014. The actual numbers come, as always, from the research firm The NPD Group, but it does not reveal specific unit sales to the public, and neither Sony nor Microsoft offered that information.

According to GameSpot;

"Xbox marketing executive Mike Nichols said in a statement that good times are ahead for Xbox One. Future Xbox One growth will be driven by a strong lineup of games, backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 titles, the New Xbox One Experience, and the new Xbox Elite controller, he said. "We're excited to further build on this momentum in the months to come," he said."

The number one best selling game in the US in August 2015 was, to no one's surprise, Madden NFL 16 from Electronic Arts. Minecraft was second, and third was the Xbox One exclusive game Gears of War Ultimate Edition.
