While the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset is still planned for a Q1 2016 release, the company's Oculus Touch controller has suffered a delay. The controller was supposed to launch sometime in the first half of 2016, but Oculus now says it will be out in the second half of the year.
The Oculus Touch is actually two controllers, one for each hand, that are being designed so that the Rift can detect both hand and finger movements. In today's blog post, Oculus announced that it has made a number of changes to the controller that will make it more "comfortable, reliable, and natural" to use. It added:
"The feedback on Touch has been incredibly positive, and we know this new timeline will produce an even better product, one that will set the bar for VR input. We appreciate your patience and promise Touch will be worth the wait."
Oculus added that pre-orders for the Rift headset will still be "launching very soon". As previously announced, the Rift will be bundled with a Xbox One controller as part of Oculus' partnership with Microsoft.
