The COO at GameStop, Tony Bartel, has said that the launch of new PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles "seem imminent." This joins previous reports that Sony is expected to roll out a more powerful PlayStation 4 before the year is out, as well as Nintendo with the rumored NX system.
As noted in the Gamespot report, the U.S. retailer released preliminary projections:
"Another slide shown during the event put a dollar amount to the launch of new consoles and VR over the coming years. If GameStop has a 33 percent share of new $15 billion console launch, GameStop would potentially make $5 billion in sales. Assuming the VR market is $15 billion by 2019 and that GameStop holds 20 percent, it would generate $3 billion in sales."
So no new information surrounding these reported consoles, but if GameStop is starting to get excited about the possibility, it could be a sign that launches may not be too far off.
