OneDrive on the Xbox One

Microsoft has updated its OneDrive app for the Xbox One console that offers some minor but still interesting improvements on the photo side. The new version now lets users view their most recent images on their account by simply saying "Xbox, Go to OneDrive" if they have the Kinect hardware working. Also, a timeline of all of a user's OneDrive photos, organized by date and time, will appear simply by selecting "more" in the app menu.

When the upcoming June system update for the Xbox One is released, it will eliminate the requirement for a paid Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to access and use the OneDrive app.

Microsoft has also confirmed what we previously reported a few weeks ago about the OneDrive app for Windows Phone 8.1 now having the ability to automatically upload and back up the higher resolution images created by the Nokia Lumia 1020 and 1520 smartphones.

Finally, the OneDrive.com website now has a way for users to order physical versions of their photos and then have them printed by their local Walgreens pharmacy. In order to promote this new feature, Microsoft and Walgreens are offering a 25 percent discount on all photo printing orders from the site simply by typing in the coupon code "ONEDRIVE" at checkout.

What do you think of these new additions to OneDrive and are you glad that the Xbox One version won't need an extra subscription fee for access after the next system update?
