Microsoft has just announced that all Xbox One 500GB consoles are priced at just $249 in the U.S. The discount is available for a "limited time".
The news was revealed by Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb on his Twitter account:
Starting today and for a limited time in the US: All 500GB Xbox One Consoles will be $249 https://t.co/Byg74z1lvopic.twitter.com/XITBD8C260

This move is likely due to Microsoft wanting to clear the inventory of all the older 500GB Xbox One consoles before the upcoming smaller Xbox One S launches. The 2TB version of the Xbox One S is scheduled to launch in early August for $399, but the launch dates for the $299 500GB version and the $349 1TB version have not been revealed.
This price cut to $249 seems to be a rather sudden move on Microsoft's part as the discount is not yet available online on its official store. However, it is available on other retail sites, including Amazon:
