With only a few weeks remaining until Battlefield 1's launch, Electronic Arts has showcased a lengthy demo of its single-player element. Initially revealed as a part of TwitchCon 2016, the footage gives a closer look at the new approach to a solo campaign.
Unlike previous Battlefield titles which heavily revolve around a single protagonist, Battlefield 1 allows players to take on the roles of a range of different soldiers. Switching between multiple perspectives on the fly, the traditional single-player experience has been restructured to better suit the game's narrative.
This is a big change from many of today's shooters, which allow players to be the all-powerful heroes of modern combat. Taking the Battlefield 1 franchise back to World War 1 has given DICE more creative freedom to diverge away from the common shooter format.
Battlefield 1 releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 21, 2016.
